Hokuto City and Kikonai Station
Cherry blossoms are blooming here now.
My family went on a trip to see them in Hokuto City next to Hakodate City yesterday. Since the new Shinkansen (bullet train) station , Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station, was built in Hokuto City, the Hokuto City is becoming popular.
↑We were heading to a historical site called Matsumaehan-Hekirichi-Jinyaato (松前藩戸切地陣屋跡).
↑The view around the historical site
↑You can see a gate of the historical site over there.
There was a long path lined with cherry trees in front of the gate. Unfortunately, they have yet to bloom fully.
↑It says that seventeen temporary houses were built for about 120 worriors in 1855. However, when Hakodate War broke out in 1868, they burned their houses deliberately to avoid being used by their enemy.
↑The site inside the gate.
↑When you go down the path, you can see the view.
We then went to Hoki Temple (法亀寺) to see a special cherry tree.
↑This cherry tree is about 300 years old. It is one of the biggest cherry trees in Hokkaido.
We then headed to Kikonai Station in Kikonai Chyo next to Hokuto City.
↑You can see Mt. Hakodate over the sea.
↑Kikonai Station is the nearest staion from the mainland.
There are two Shinkansen Stations in Hokkaido. One is Kikonai Station, and the other is the last Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station.
↑There was a roadside station in front of the Kikonai Station.
↑I bought a bag of bread (200yen) there. It seemed popular.
↑The top of the bread was covered with sweet five kinds of beans, and also, red beans paste was inside the bread.
I recommend it if you like beans. I love it.
P.S.
