I took these photos at Oniushi Park in Mori Town. Some cherry trees were in bloom still then.

As I had known that my son wouldn't do anything for me on Mother's Day as usual, I asked him to make dinner instead of me because of the Mother's Day. Actually, I wanted to teach how to set up a rice cooker. He can use a knife, but I realized that he had few opportunities to make rice using a rice cooker.

He came to the kitchen reluctantly. I taught how to make rice to him. I then left the kitchen and went to my own new room. As you may know, I had put away things in the storage room and I made my space. There are some cardboad boxes still there, but it's cozy! I left cooking dishes to him.

After a while, he called me that dinner was ready.
He prepared some fried sausages, French fries, and egg soup. As for the French fries, he referred this recipe. He was satisfied with the French fries. They were very good.
I thanked him and enjoyed the dinner. Actually, the amount of the dishes was not enough for us, so, I made another dish later though.

Cherry trees in Goryokaku Park on April 25.

Cherry trees in Goryokaku Park have yet to be in full bloom. I've been looking forward to seeing them. They will be in full bloom in a week or so.

I like stew very much. After I made soup stock from leftover of shrimp heads, I put diced tomato (canned), beans, potato, carrot, onion, mushroom, celery, parsley, broccoli, bacon, and so on.

IMG_1247_convert_20170426214449.jpg

I made a cake. It was very easy to make and I used a little butter and a fresh apple. It was delicious. I really recommend it.

mix ingredients in turn
1. 30g butter → 2. 1 egg → 3. 70g sugar → 4. 100g flour → 5. 1 teaspoon Baking Powder → 6. 70g milk → 7. sliced a small apple → 8. 30g raisins and 30g crushed walnuts

put it in the oven of 180℃ for 35minutes

I've been making dried mini tomatoes. I like them very much. They make dishes better. I dried them outside for several hours, and I then put them in the oven with 150℃ for fifteen minutes for twice (last night and this morning). However, I will need to dry them more.
According to some recipes, 100℃ in the oven is the best to make dried tomatoes, but my oven doesn't have the degree, unfortunately.

How to use the protein powder?

IMG_1163_convert_20170312150457.jpg

IMG_1162_convert_20170312150645.jpg

I joined an Ikebana Sunday Workshop today. Two works were arranged by a professor who came from Osaka.

IMG_1152_convert_20170312151518.jpg

I made a loaf of bread and some cookies using the protein powder.
However, frankly, they were not so good. They were dry. As for the cookies, they were not sweet. The protein powder includes sugar, so I didn't add any sugar. The bread didn't rise enough. My son tried a cookie, but he wouldn't eat another one. He ate the bread with jam, though. I learned that it was OK to make bread using a little of protein powder.
There is a lot of them still now.
I don't know how to use it up soon. So, I drink a cup of milk adding a table spoon of it every morning instead of my son. You may laugh with it because the protein powder was made for children.

I remember a similar story of my friend of mine. It always makes me laugh.
She likes English. She wanted her children to read weekly newspaper for children learning English. She subscribed them, but her children didn't want to read them at all. So, she read them every week instead of her children.
I felt sorry for her, but it was a funny story.

His fever went down in a night. 一晩で熱下がる

IMG_1122_convert_20170219152305.jpg

This photo was taken at the library, which I got permission.

My son had a fever, 37.8℃, last night.
He took a bath until he felt warm enough. While he was taking it, I cooked special soup for him. When I had a cold before, this soup worked well. However, it didn't always work. I think that sooner is better.

< Special Soup for fever >

1. Boil 2 cups of water with some kelp
2. Put sliced some (a half of) leek and shredded a clove of ginger into [1].
3. Simmer about 5 minutes.
4. Remove the kelp ( If you want to eat the kelp, you should cut it thinly beforehand.)
5. Put a little salt into the soup.
6. Put one beaten egg into the soup.

While I was cooking the soup, I put a clove of garlic with skin into an oven toaster and I left it there for about 10 minutes. When you eat it, you should remove the skin.

After my son got out of the bath, he ate the soup and the grilled garlic. He then ate three strawberries and drank a glass of water. It is important to take vitamin C. So, an orange instead of strawberries is also good if you have.

Before he went to bed, I put a heat pack on his higher part of back (under the neck) on the clothing. Be careful to not have the moderate-temperature burn.

This morning, I was so relieved to see that his temperature had gone down to 36.7℃. He didn't take any medicines.

Strawberry and Chocolate Cake

IMG_1120_convert_20170216162019.jpg

It was the Valentine's Day.
I gave a box of chocolate to my son before going to school in the morning.
His school teacher had told students on the day before the Valentine's Day that not to bring any chocolate to school on the day.

As my son got some chocolate from girls after school last year, I was expecting who would give them to him this year. Maybe, as did he.
He got home from school earlier than usual because he didn't have his club activity fortunately. So, he was at home. After a while, a door bell rang, but it was only a mail man.

After all, no girls gave any chocolate to him. I'm sorry for him.

Today, I made a Strawberry and Chocolate Cake which I referred this recipe.
