Squid season is just coming.

We can see fresh squid at the grocery store recently here. Hakodate is famous for squid. I bought some yesterday. When I bought them, they were fresher and their skin color was more darker than this photo. The color became white gradually. I cooked with soy sauce, sugar and so on yesterday, but I want to try again making Shiokara which is salted with its guts. Actually I love squid ink pasta, but I don't see it in Hakodate. I wonder why.

This is a rugosa rose, Hamanasu in Japanese. It's one of popular flowers in Hokkaido. We can see them these days. They are very beautiful. It is said that this fruit is edible though I haven't eaten it. I want to try it someday.
