Panettone

I'm sleepy now because I stayed up untill 4:00 this early morning. I had been writing some New Year's cards all through the night.
I had planned to finish writing them by Christmas day and after that I'm going to clean my place.
So far so good as planned.

Before the Christmas I baked Panettone, which is Italian Christmas bread.
I soaked some kinds of dried fruits overnight in rum beforehand.
I didn't use the bread machine for it, so it was time consuming but it turned out very nice and it smelled good, too.

Eventually, my husband bought a Nintendo 3DS for my son as a Christmas present.
..... Alas.
It's difficult to go against the trend.
My son will jump with joy tomorrow morning.

Merry Christmas to you !!!

Ehhhhhhh? I'm sure your son will be happy though.

Hi, Always visiting,

Merry Christmas! Thank you very much for your comment.
I was not sure whether I can use "Alas" on this situation.
Was it OK? Or do you have a better word when you want to say "あ~あ、買(か)っちゃったv-403" in Japanese? I want to know the better word as "あ~あ".

I think 'alas' is fine. It sounds a little wistful in this situation, which is perfect.

I use a add on for my browser. It's called "rikai-kun" or "rikai-chan." It translates some phrases and also translates Japanese for me. I think this could help you too.

I'm not sure how to say "a~a" better. I think it probably depends on the context. Maybe it can be summed up with the word sigh but I'm not sure.

As in I just made a cinnamon cake for my husband, but I forgot to add the last egg. sigh <--- this actually happened.
