Birthday

October is a special month for me.
Because my precious people and I were born in October.

One of them is my father. He is in his eighties now.
I've been thinking that I was going to express my gratitude in the end on his deathbed. He enjoys his life and is very fine now though.
However I'm not sure I can do that because I live far away from him. And I don't want to regret not doing that, so I want to express now while he is fine and I wrote a letter to him this month.
When I was writing it remembering my father had sent me a cassette tape several years ago that was recorded when I was only two and I realized well how much my parents loved me from that tape, tears came to my eyes.
A few days later, my father said only thank you. Probably he was too shy to talk more than that about the letter.

As for my birthday, my son made a birthday cake for me. We bought a sponge cake though.

My family has a rule that a person who has one's own birthday can choose a restaurant where we go for the birthday. My husband doesn't like to eat out, so we hardly eat out usually. I sometimes eat out for lunch though.

To tell the truth, I want to eat French food for my birthday. Before we have a son, we used to go to a French restaurant once a year. I haven't gone there since then.
However it's expensive and my husband and my son don't like the course dishes. They want to order dishes they want. Besides, I'm not sure my son can act properly at the fancy restaurant. He often spills when he eats. They say that they will go there with me, but only I should order the course dishes.
I haven't decided it yet though my birthday passed already.
I didn't know why but I didn't have a special feeling for my birthday this year. Before I have a son, I hated my birthday because I had been in a hurry very much to have a baby in my late thirties.

Anyway, I have to choose a restaurant before long.

Hi, Sakae

I was really moved with your story.
How kind you are!!
What a warm family you have!!

My father died last year because of pneumonia.
My mother died of cancer almost twenty years ago.
My father did everything by himself after my mother died.
But I couldn't do anything for him. I have my own family
and live with mother-in-law so I couldn't live with him.
That was my regret. I should have done many many things.
So while I was reading your story, tears came down.
Please be kind and call him as often as you can.
Last year I said thanks to my dying father. He was in critical condition. I said thanks holding his hand.
The doctor said when I talked to him, his pulse rate became
better.
But at that time, I thought I should have done,
should have talked more while he was alive and conscious.
I miss my father and mother so much.

A really interesting entry! Happy late birthday. :) I hope you can choose a good restaurant. Let's eat French together one day. I can't eat it either. My husband doesn't like garlic or the side courses (same as yours) and I don't want to go alone.

Happy Birthday!

Hi Sakae,
Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful story.
Happy birthday to you and your father!
October is a lovely month for you, isn't it?
The cake looks delicious and so cute!
Please enjoy choosing a special restaurant for you, and having a nice dinner with your family!;)

Hi, ダイエット妄想ママ.

Thank you for your comment.
I'm very sorry about your parents.
Your father was pleased to hear your gratitude and he passed away peacefully, I bet.
I think many people regret that they should've done more for their beloved person who passed away even though they devoted much.
Anyway, I'll be kind and call my parents as often as I can as you recommend.
Thanks.

Re: No title

Hi, Always visiting.

Thank you for your comment.
Let's do! I don't want to have the course dishes alone, either.
I think an eel restaurant is good, too. The eel got expensive very much these days. I'm afraid I can eat it in ten years.
Probably you don't eat it though.

Re: Happy Birthday!

Hi, mittanr.

How are you? I hope you are fine now.
Thank you for your comment.
Your parents also live far away from you, right? So let's go to see them as much as possible.
Yes, the cake my son made was delicious. It made me happy.

Hi, Kimitan.

Thank you very much.
French food is very delicious. I recommend it. When you go there for lunch, probably you can have it on reasonably priced.

By the way, Always visiting who often gives me comments left a comment for you last time, in case you haven't noticed it yet.

Kimitan さん、

こんにちは。時々コメントを下さりありがとうございます。
このたびは手を煩わせてしまいすみません。もっと詳しく書けばよかったですね。

To Kimitan: I think you should say "But, I'm not able to sew" or "But I don't know how to sew." The second one sounds more natural. Usually you don't use to + _____ing together. :)

Oh, Sakae-san. My father and I were born in October too. What a coincidence!!!

Hi, Happy Yuan.

Really? Wow. I'm happy to hear that.
And I bet we are around the same age, maybe.
Sorry, if you're much younger than me.
