homemade SOYJOY

I've been interested in healthy snacks these days, because my son's increased his appetite as he grows older and he has substantial snacks before supper.

A kind visitor advised me about good healthy snacks to my comment site before. I've taken note of it and whenever I went to the grocery store I always looked for healthy snacks which include especially dried fruit, nuts, beans, fish and so on.

Finally I found a good snack, SOYJOY! It is made from soybeans, dried fruit, nuts and so on. I bought and tried it. It was very good and my son liked it, too.

I thought I should make SOYJOY by myself.
I was very surprised that Okara, bean curd was cheap. I bought 400g Okara for only 40 yen!
I used Okara, normal flour, grahamflour, soyflour(Kinako), BP(baking powder), butter, sugar, eggs, cashew nuts, dried Yuzu(citron) peel and dried prunes.
Isn't it healthy?

The taste was good, but there is still room for improvement. I'll try another.
Anyway, homemade SOYJOY is much more inexpensive than real SOYJOY.

Oh yeah, I think we can buy soy joy in the US too. Homemade soyjoy looks great. A lot of people in the US make home made larabars, it uses ingredients that are very similiar, but does not require baking.

Hi, Always visiting.

Thank you for your comment.
I didn't know about the larabars, so I checked it on the Internet. Not baking larabars look interesting.
The homemade SOYJOY seems to make my bowels work well :).

Recipe / Homemade Soyjoy Bar

Dear Visitor,

To be honest, I didn't think that the homemade Soyjoy bar I had made before was perfect, but I'm sure it's healthful. It might have been a little different from the recipe below. Only this recipe was written in my recipe notebook. I hope you like it.

Homemade Soyjoy Bar

50g butter
60g sugar
1 large egg
1.5 cups of dried fruits and nuts
200g raw Okara
80g flour (for cake)
1.5 tea spoons of BP

1) Mix all of them.
2) Roll out it to 1 cm thick and make rectangle on the pan.
3) Put it in the oven at 180℃ for 20~25 minutes.
4) Cut into 16.
5) Turn up the cut ends, and put them in the oven again at 180℃ for 3~5 minutes.
