a book / LEFT TO TELL

It was the 20th Anniversary of Rwanda's Genocide last Monday.

It was not so long ago for me. When I had a good time those days, more than 800,000 people in Rwanda were killed. In other words, the majority Hutus massacred the minority Tutsis in Rwanda.

Several years ago, I read a book titled 'LEFT TO TELL' which was written by a Tutsi survivor. Many of her family members were killed, but she was saved by a Hutu pastor. She and seven other women hid in the tiny bathroom of the pastor's house for three months. The pastor didn't tell even his family about them.
It was really really terrifying real story. I remembered this book. I can't throw it away, but I can't read it again either. It's too terrible to read again.

Your article with some of my recommendations:

It was the 20th Anniversary of Rwanda's Genocide last Monday.

It was not so long ago for me. When I had a good time those days, more than 800,000 people in Rwanda were killed. In other words, the majority Hutus massacred the minority Tutsis in Rwanda.

Recommendation:

Last Monday was the 20th anniversary of the genocide in Rwanda.

It was not so long ago for me. While I was having a good time living in ignorant bliss, more than 800,000 people in Rwanda were slaughtered. The majority Hutus were killing the minority Tutsis with impunity, with the support of their government, and all under the guise of civil war.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Several years ago, I read a book titled 'LEFT TO TELL' which was written by a Tutsi survivor. Many of her family members were killed, but she was saved by a Hutu pastor. She and seven other women hid in the tiny bathroom of the pastor's house for three months. The pastor didn't tell even his family about them.
It was really really terrifying real story. I remembered this book. I can't throw it away, but I can't read it again either. It's too terrible to read again.

You did a very good job with the first paragraph.

I would just change:

From:
The pastor didn't tell even....

To:
The pastor didn't even tell...

In the second paragraph, you had a few more errors:

It was really really terrifying real story. I remembered this book. I can't throw it away, but I can't read it again either. It's too terrible to read again.

My recommendations:

The author's personal account of the horrors she had experienced while being hunted by the Hutus, made for an unforgettable experience for me as I read it. It is a book I can neither throw away, nor ever read again. Although I had spent many a night eagerly riveted to this book, to have to relive her story would simply be too much of an emotional burden for me.

No title

I think all of the above words to use it are appropriate. Dreadful, frightening, awful, horrifying, etc.

I read a National Geographic article about it. They said the day before things got started, people greeted each other as neighbors. Then suddenly, they were killing each other. How awful!

Re: No title

Hi, Always visiting.

Thank you for your comment and teaching me English.

Her book said that, too. And his brother was killed by dreadful manners by his friends. It was worse than a nightmare.
