daily exercise

It's been a month since I started jogging in the morning.
Actually I should say taking a walk rather than jogging. At first I jog, but soon after that, I get tired and then walk and sometimes stop walking to take some pictures of wild flowers or animals.
To tell the truth, I had skipped a few times, but someone said that taking a rest once a week is good to keep on things. I was glad to hear that.

By the way, these days I've been making a dress. It will take a few months to finish.
I want to make like this↓.

I hope that you can make a dress. That would be really nice!

On the Couch to 5K work out plan, you only run three days a week. Have you heard of it?

Re: No title

Thank you, Always visiting.

What is 'on the Couch to 5K work out plan'? I've never heard of it.

The plan is for people who don't usually do running. You go between jogging and walking for a certain amount of minutes.

You alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking. You do this for 20 minutes.

There are smart phone programs too. It will tell you when to jog and when to walk. It's popular in the USA and the UK.

Re: No title

Hi, Always visiting.

Thank you very much. I didn't know that. That sounds good! I'll try it.

To tell the truth, I have skipped my *daily (or use *jogging if it is not daily) routine a few times. I've heard that resting once a week is actually beneficial. It prevents undue fatigue and emotional burnout. I was glad to hear that.

Re: English Corrections

Hi, shiroi tora.

Thank you very much for the corrections again.

I have a question.
You corrected 'I have skipped' from my original sentence, 'I had skipped'.
I thought 'skipping a few times' meant past and I don't want to rest in the future as much as possible even though resting once a week is actually beneficial.
Nevertheless, can't I say that 'I had skipped'?
Sometimes I'm confused with 'I skipped', 'I have skipped', and 'I had skipped'.
Please tell me.

Answer to question:

A quick generalized answer:

Adding ed as in "skipped" means one point in time.

Have is from all of the past up to the present. It includes multiple instances.

Had is from all of the past, or from a predetermined point in the past, and forward to another predetermined point in time not of the immediate present (at the time that it was written). It may include single or multiple instances.

If you meant that you had skipped a few times and that you had made the firm decision to never skip again in the future, then had would have been appropriate.

However, when you said had and then countered the implication of not doing it in the future with the statement that you were glad that skipping may be the right thing to do for the future, there is an inherent contradiction. This confuses the reader.

If you meant that you had skipped a few runs in the past but you wish to never skip any in the future, a better way of saying it would be something like:

Although I have heard that skipping one day a week of jogging may be a good thing to do, and I had actually skipped a few runs in the past, I will endeavor to never miss another day again because I fear I may lose interest in jogging should I not jog everyday.

Remember, language (other than as an art form) is used to convey information in a precise and concise manner. The purpose of precision in language is to increase the accuracy of the information conveyed, as well as to eliminate ambiguity as much as possible. For this to be possible, the words and context must match. There must be a logical flow of information. Without the correct wording, implied meanings may contradict one another, which would then lead to ambiguity. From this, misunderstanding may arise.

I hope this addresses your question.
