Ikebana 5/21/2014

IMG_5539_convert_20140522082713.jpg

I composed this arrangement from Evergreen magnolia (タイサンボク)(←I'm not sure about the name of it. If you know, please tell me.), Clematis (テッセン), Star lily (ヒメユリ) and Solomon's seal (ナルコユリ).

I was glad that I had an Ikebana lesson again after a long time.
Our Hakodate school of Ikebana celebrated the 90th anniversary of its foundation last Sunday. So my teacher had been so busy for preparing the ceremony.
More than 500 people including disciples from not only Hakodate but also other areas attended the ceremony and also our school invited the head and experts of Ohara school from Kobe. I was surprised that not a few people were wearing Kimono there.
And after the ceremony we had a lecture from the head, Hiroki Ohara.

He lectured and performed about six arrangements for us. Everytime before arranging, he explained about the each vase. Those looked very expensive, and I was very surprised that two of them were drawn by Picasso! And the last arrangement was very big which was full of stage. Of course, needless to say, all arrangements were wonderful. I had a great time.

*The first paragraph was ok, except you need to capitalize for proper nouns.

After a lengthly hiatus, I was glad to study Ikebana once again. Last Sunday, our Hakodate school of Ikebana celebrated the 90th anniversary of its founding. My teacher had been so busy preparing for the ceremony that he had no time to teach Ikebana for a while.

More than 500 people, including disciples from not only Hakodate, but from other areas, attended the ceremony. Our school also invited the head of Ohara school from Kobe, as well as many of the school's expert flower arrangers. I was surprised that many people were wearing Kimono there.

After the ceremony, the headmaster of Ohara school, Hiroki Ohara, gave a lecture on flower arranging.

*Mr. Ohara lectured and then performed about six arrangements for us. Before starting each arrangement, he explained about the particular vase he was preparing to use. They looked very expensive, and I was surprised to learn that two of them were painted by Picasso!

The last flower arrangement was so large that it almost filled the stage. Needless to say, all the arrangements were wonderful. I had a great time.

*You would use the person's name because there was a large physical separation from the previous paragraph.

↓*These vases were painted by Picasso

*(If they were originals). If not, then you would say that the original design was made by Picasso. If you meant that he had actually made the complete vases, then you would say that Picasso had sculpted and hand painted each vase.

After I came home from my Ikebana lesson yesterday, I enjoyed a couple more small pleasures...

↓a banana flower...

↓and some kelp and cherry blossom tea.

*'Everytime' should always be written as two separate words
(Every time) .

Re: English Corrections

Hi, shiroi tora.

Thank you very much for the corrections.
I don't know whether the bases were originals by Picasso or the original design was made by him.
There were some assistants on the stage and after every time Mr.Ohara finished one arrangement, one of the assistants held the vase of the arrangement by hands and stepped down the stage and put it on a table. At that time, I was worried if the arrangement would move badly by accident or the assistant would stumble on the steps. Because it's very difficult to move an arrangement.
