One thing after another 一難去ってまた一難

(For the sake of privacy, I will refer to my son's friends as, 'T' and 'H'.)

After school, T, H, and my son were playing together in front of my apartment building.
After a while, T and H started to make fun of my son. One of his friends took my son's bike's key, and they played it with catch and throw. Then, the key fell down in a drain. My son opened the drain cover, and took out the key, but while the cover was opened, one of his friend took my son's ear muffler and threw it into the drain. It got wet miserably.
My son got angry and he hid their DS games which were at our entrance door.

After a while, T and H noticed that their DS games had gone. There was a storage inside the house near the entrance. H went into our house without permission and found their DS games at the storage. Then, T noticed his touch-pen belonging the DS game had gone. They started to look for it. The outside got dark, but T wouldn't go home until he finds it. I asked my son about it, but he didn't know it. Then we all looked for it, but we couldn't find it in the end. Around that time, my son noticed that his shoes had gone. It was already dark then, so I made them go home. Since the shoes were much bigger than the touch-pen, I thought we would find them easily.

After his friends left our place, my son and I looked for his shoes around our apartment building. And then after my husband came home, my family looked for them again, but we couldn't find them. Since it was dark, it was difficult to find them.
Then my husband scolded us saying why we didn't express our angers more to them, why we let them enter the house freely, and why I didn't make them look for my son's shoes as well although we all looked for T's touch-pen.

I couldn't sleep well that night while thinking that where my son's shoes were, and as my son usually wore the shoes, we had to find them before school. And I also thought how the weather was the next day, or they got wet if it was rain, and I was afraid that someone would find and throw them away as garbage.

My son and I got up at six o'clock and started to look for them again. Since we couldn't find them around our apartment building, we looked for them in wider by wider area. We looked for them even in which we opened covers of garbage boxes in the neighborhood. I asked a man walking his dog about the shoes, and then I went to the stream nearby to look for them. However, we couldn't find them in the end.

When it was seven o'clock, I made my son call T to ask about the shoes. I doubted that T hid my son's shoes because of revenge of the touch-pen. T's father answered the phone, but T was sleeping at that time, so my son explained about it to his father. He told that he would wake up his son and ask it. Then, when it was around seven thirty, T's mother called me that T said with crying that he didn't know anything. Then T changed the phone from his mother and said to me that he really didn't know about that. I said to him that Okay, then I would call H.

After that, I made my son call H. He said that he didn't know that. I changed the phone and asked him about it again, but he also said that he didn't know that. Then I angrily shouted "Return his shoes now!" He confessed that they were in the storage. I shouted again, "Come to my house right now and take out them!" Because there were a lot of things in the storage and I thought it was difficult to find them.
As soon as I hung up the phone, I called T's mother and I apologized to her that I doubted her son about it.

H came home about five minutes later. And he gave me the shoes from the storage. My anger hit the ceiling, and I scolded him very much. My son wore the shoes and went to school soon.

My feeling was very bad and really tired, because I doubted T and I thought other things related to this incident. I lay down and read a book with listening to my favorite music to calm down for a while.

In the afternoon, my son came home from school cheerfully. My son said that H had apologized to him. Soon after that, the door bell rang. It was H. H apologized to me. Since I got calm down, I asked about how he had hidden the shoes.
To my astonishment, he said that he had hidden them with T, but the person who put them in the storage was T!
I confirmed it to H again and again. He said the same thing.

As soon as I heard of it, I emailed T's mother about it. She called me later and apologized it. And I also called H's mother to tell everything. In the evening, T and his mother visited us to apologize. H also came to my place.
Three of children were reconciled in the end.

The next morning, T's mother called me again and said that she and her husband were really shocked by her son's behavior and apologized to me again with tears. And she also said that we didn't have to look for the touch-pen any longer.

That sounds so... tiring. As I read this, I said "stop fighting!" outloud.

Re: No title

Hi, Always visiting.

Yes, I was really tired. However, I know their mothers well, so it was easier to cope with.
Thank you for your comment.

During their prank on my son, the key fell into a drain. *Keep Away is when two or more people (or sometimes a very fast person) plays catch with a third person's item while attempting to keep the third person from retrieving it. It is usually done to annoy the third person.

**Ear mufflers are often called ear muffs. Since there are two, one for each ear, they are referred to in the plural form.

After a while, T and H noticed that their DS games *were gone. There is a storage area inside our house near the entrance. H went into our house, without permission, and found their DS games in the storage area. Then, T noticed that the touch-pen to his DS game unit was gone. They started to look for it. It soon got dark, but T wouldn't go home until he found it. I asked my son about it, but he said he knew nothing about it. We all looked for it, but we couldn't find it. Around that time, my son noticed that his shoes were gone. As it was already dark by then, I made my son's friends go home. Since the shoes were much bigger than the touch-pen, I thought we would easily find them.

*'Had gone' refers to an action by the items (impossible). 'Were gone' refers to a statement of being.

After his friends left, my son and I looked for his shoes around our apartment building. After my husband came home, my family looked for them again, but we still couldn't find them. Since it was dark, it was too difficult to thoroughly search for them.

My husband then scolded us for not expressing more anger to them, for letting them enter the house freely, and for not making them look for my son's shoes as well, even though we had all looked for T's touch-pen.

I couldn't sleep well that night thinking about where my son's shoes could be. I was especially worried because as my son usually wore those shoes, I knew we had to find them before school the next morning. I was also worried about how the weather would be the next day. Were it to rain, I was afraid that someone might think they were trash, and throw them away.

My son and I got up at six o'clock and started to look for them again. Since we couldn't find them around our apartment building, we widened our search area. We even looked for them in the neighborhood garbage cans. I asked a man walking his dog about the shoes, and I then went to the nearby stream to look for them. However, my search was in vain.
