Christmas Ikebana 12/10/2014

IMG_6715_convert_20141210132706.jpg

I had composed this arrangement of Kochia Scoparia (コキア), Thunbeng Lily(スカシユリ), Smilax Glabra (サンキライ), and Texas Bluebell (トルコキキョウ).

Unfortunately, my Ikebana teacher can't teach me for a while, so I had to arrange Ikebana by myself again.
I had very good time with her on arranging and talking, so I hope her teaching will resume early next year.

I wanted to buy some red colored flowers at a flower shop, but I couldn't find appropriate ones. So I compromised to use orange colored lilies. And I also wanted to use some candles, but I couldn't find ones either eventually. Then I took out the old candle I had used last year, but it was too short to use.

By the way, I usually listen to the NHK radio program for English learners, 'Business Communication In Action' (実践ビジネス英語), and I liked the quote from today's program below.

Be willing to have it so. Acceptance of what has happened is the first step to overcoming the consequences of any misfortune.
----- William James

それをそのまま進んで受け入れなさい。 起きてしまったことを受け入れるのは、どんな不幸であれ、その結果を克服する第一歩なのだ。

Re: English Corrections

Hi, Shiroi Tora.

Thank you very much for the corrections.

I have just written down 'compromise by ...ing' on my dictionary. I was glad to learn it.

I really like your ikebana here, especially the big orange flowers (?).

Re: No title

Hi, Always visiting.

Thank you very much. They were lilies. I had wanted to use red big flowers instead of them, but I was glad to hear your comment.
