Yoichi Town

This morning, the local weather forecast warned that you shouldn't dry clothing outside because yellow dust would come from China.

The Golden Week Holiday was gone.
I visited Yoichi Town during the holiday.

Yoichi Town faces the sea and is placed next to Otaru City.
Yoichi Town is famous for Nikka Whisky and the birthplace of Mouri Mamoru, who is a renowned Japanese astronaut.
I visited Yoichi Space Museum and Nikka Whisky Distillery. Fortunately, they sit nearby each other.
I had watched the NHK morning drama, 'Massan' every morning. And the story was based on the founder of Nikka Whisky, Massan, or Masataka Taketsuru.
I went there by car, but you can walk both of them from the Yoichi Station.

Besides, you don't have to pay any entrance fee. How generous!
Yoichi Town is also famous for fruits, especially apples.

The site was very spacious and I was excited to see some of them as the same as the drama scenes.
And I knew that Rita's sister had come to see her from Scotland about thirty years later since Rita left there.

I enjoyed the Yoichi Town very much.

On the last day of the Golden Week Holiday, I went to see a movie titled 'The Theory of Everything' (博士と彼女のセオリー).
It was a very good movie.
I admired the wife's devotion very much.

This morning, the local weather forecast warned that we shouldn't dry clothing outside because wind blown yellow dust would *arrive from China some time today.

*Come can mean from the point in time from its departure. Arrive is more precise.

Golden Week Holiday is over.
I visited Yoichi Town during the holiday.

Yoichi Town faces the sea and *sits next to Otaru City.

*It was set next to Otaru, but it sits next to Otaru...as if it were alive.

Yoichi Town is famous for Nikka Whisky and as the birthplace of Mouri Mamoru, who is a renowned Japanese astronaut.
I visited Yoichi Space Museum and Nikka Whisky Distillery. Fortunately, they sit near each other.

↑There was a beautiful river behind the Yoichi Space Museum.

↑The site of Nikka Whisky Distillery

↑Massan and his wife *Rita used to live in this house.

*A common way of writing such a sentence is without punctuation.
An alternate way includes parentheses around Rita. You could also put a comma after Massan, and after Rita.

↑You can taste the whisky, apple juice, and tea for free!
Besides, you don't have to pay any entrance fee. How generous!
Yoichi Town is also famous for fruits, especially apples.

The site was very spacious, and to have recognized many places within as the same I had seen in dramas shot there, was exciting.
I also knew at the time that Rita's sister had *come to see her from Scotland about thirty years after Rita emigrated.

*If you mean to Japan, it is okay. If you mean to the specific location which is not where you were when you had typed this article...you should have said 'gone'.

I enjoyed Yoichi Town very much.

On the last day of Golden Week Holiday, I went to see a movie titled 'The Theory of Everything' (博士と彼女のセオリー).

Hi, Shiroi Tora.

Thank you very much for the corrections.

I'm confused with using 'is over', 'was over', 'is gone', and 'was gone'.
Please teach me about them.

My Reply:

In the context of the article, when you talk of holidays or events, as they really don't go anywhere, they finish, or are over. In general, things which can be perceived, such as tangible items, or even memories... may disappear (no longer perceived), and so, are gone.

I hope this answers your question.

Re: Sakae's Request

Hi, Shiroi Tora.

Thank you very much. I understand them.
Then, what's the difference between 'is over' and 'was over'?
You corrected 'Golden Week Holiday IS over'. Why not 'Was over'?

My Reply:

To have said 'was over' is to imply that at the time of your writing...
it was no longer over. I didn't want to over correct your article. I would have written the sentences as such:

Although Golden Week is over, during the holiday, I visited Yoichi Town.

I hope I had gotten your meaning correctly.

Re: Answer to Sakae's question

Hello, Shiroi Tora.

Thank you very much for the further reply.
