New Year's Ikebana 12/16/2015

IMG_9015_convert_20151217230336.jpg

I had composed this arrangement of Young Pine (若松), Dancing Lady Orchid (オンシジウム), Ornamental Cabbage (ハボタン), and Nandina (南天).

It was a little earlier, but I arranged New Year's flowers. I hope they will last long.
At first, I was going to arrange them with more traditional style, but I changed my mind just after I referred some other arrangements.
I thought that referring some works affected very much, not only for Ikebana, but also for other things.
It was the last Ikebana lesson this year. I had a good time.

This beautiful pudding was from my Ikebana teacher while these Christmas cookies were made by myself.

I saw a movie 'Sugihara Chiune'. It is a Japanese movie, but there were a lot of conversations in English. I was impressed that Mr. Sugihara had worked and helped thousands of Jewish people at the risk of his life.
To be honest, I hadn't known him well. However, one of my favorite bloggers had traveled East Europian countries several months ago, and he posted some pictures of The Chiune Sugihara Memorial Museum in Lithuania. He said on his blog that the museum was in the suburbs and there were few people at the museum. I thought that the number of visitor would be increasing after the film. I want to visit there someday.

P.S.

It was a little early, but I made a floral arrangement for New Year's Day. I hope the flowers will last long enough.
At first, I was going to arrange them with more traditional styling, but I changed my mind after looking at some other arrangements.
I think that by observing the works of others, they can greatly affect the outcome of our own creations, not only as it applies to Ikebana, but for everything else as well.
This was the last Ikebana lesson for the year. I had a good time.

This beautiful pudding was a gift from my Ikebana teacher, while the Christmas cookies were made by me.
