Podvarak

IMG_9146_convert_20160106185338.jpg

Podvarak is a Serbian dish.
I made it for the first time. Since it makes easier to pick the food with chopsticks, I sliced vegetables instead of chopping. My family likes it very much. It's healthy and delicious. I think that Podvarak would be popular in the world.
I put sausages on the top, but I think that you can replace chicken, beef, fish, or anything.

Podvarak

1 bigger onion
Few carrots
1 cabbage
1 can of tomato sauce
Parsley, salt, pepper
Raw sausages (optional)
------------
Finely chop 1 bigger onion few carrots a 1 cabbage. Put some oil into saucepan and add onion and carrots. Fry it a for 5 mins. Then add cabbage and canned tomato sauce and cook it until the cabbage becomes settled. While cooking if it’s needed add a little bit of water. When the cabbage settles down, add salt, parsley and a little bit more of pepper and mix everything. Pour that mixture into another dish, arrange raw sausages on top and add 1 small cup of water in it. Heat your oven at 250º and then lower the temperature to 180º. Put the dish with the mixture in the oven and bake it untill its done.

Podvarak is a Serbian dish.
I made it for the first time just recently. Since it makes it easier to pick up the food with chopsticks, I sliced the vegetables instead of chopping them. My family likes it very much. It's healthful and delicious. I think that Podvarak would be a popular dish throughout the world were more people to know about it.

I put sausages on the top, but I think that you could replace them with chicken, beef, fish, or with just about any meat.

Put the dish with the mixture, in the oven and bake it until its done.

Re: English Corrections

Hi, Shiroi Tora.

Thank you very much for the corrections.
I made a mistake again about 'healthy' and 'healthful'.

As for 'Podvarak would be a popular dish throughout the world were more people to know about it',
in this sentence, which is the main subject? I didn't understand 'were more people'.

Answer to Sakae's question

Sakae's Question:

As for 'Podvarak would be a popular dish throughout the world were more people to know about it',
in this sentence, which is the main subject? I didn't understand 'were more people'.

My Reply:

I was using the subjunctive mood. I could have said, 'If more people knew about Podvarak, it would be a popular dish throughout the world.'

Ex: Were I fifteen inches taller, I could play basketball in the NBA.

It may also be said as such: If I were fifteen inches taller, I could play basketball in the NBA.

It is merely taking out the word 'if' and switching around the 'were' and 'I'.

Remember that when postulating a scenario, you must use the subjunctive mood ('If this happened, then this would happen' or 'Were this to happen, then this would happen).

I hope this answers your question.

Re: Answer to Sakae's question

Hi, Shiroi Tora.

Thank you very much for your answer. I understand well.

Correction

Sorry, on my last answer...I should have said: 'If this were to happen, then this would happen.'

Were I smarter, I would have caught that mistake earlier :)
