Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station

Hokkaido Shinkansen (bullet train) will start between the Shin-Aomori Station and the Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station on March 26th. It will enable to take about four hours between the Tokyo Station and the new station in Hokkaido.
I visited the Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station in the interval of my son's soccer games last weekend.
The station is actually in Hokuto City next to Hakodate City. It takes about thirty minutes by car between them.

This time table may have to be revised before March 26th.
Most certainly, a new time and fee table will have to be set up for the Shinkansen.

Re: English Corrections

Hi Shiroi Tora.

Thank you very much for the corrections.
'the' is still difficult for me.
Besides, I was surprised to see 'the new station ON Hokkaido'.

Answer to Sakae's question

Sakae's Implied Question:

'......I was surprised to see 'the new station ON Hokkaido'.'

My reply:

This is somewhat confusing, until you understand the rationale.

Hokkaido is an island. Sapporo is on Hokkaido. Yet, Sapporo is in a prefecture. It is also in Japan.

California is in the USA. Yet, California is on the North American Continent. San Francisco is in California, yet it is on the West Coast.

Honolulu is in (the State of) Hawaii...but it is on the island of Oahu.

Reno is in Nevada. It also lies on a high desert plateau in the NorthWest section of Nevada in the USA on the North American Continent.

When you are talking about a tangible object such as an island or continent, unless it is actually in it (such as a cave or underground structure)...it lies on it. When you are talking of an intangible area, such as an area designated as a city or such, it lies in or within the limits of. I know that a city is a tangible object when considering its buildings, but a city is designated as such due to its borders, and so, places may lie in a city. Something may be on a city street (the station is on the intersection of x and y), but it is in the city of.

I hope this explains things.
