Shakotan Peninsula

shakotan peninsla

One day, I watched a TV show, which introduced sea urchin in Shakotan Peninsula.
Usually, the color of sea urchin is yellow, but the one introduced on TV was reddish yellow.
I felt like trying it.

The other day, my mother-in-law and my family went to Shakotan Peninsula by car.

We walked through a small and no light tunnel.

IMG_0301_convert_20160820113956.jpg

It was scary in the tunnel, but there was a breath taking view out of the tunnel.

I wanted to go down and touch the sea water, but I had to step down a long steep path. I tried to do, but I gave up in the middle. Because, I thought that it would be more difficult for me to come back. Besides, no one in my family tried it. They were waiting for me for a long time.

We then walked to see a lighthouse.

The sign said that beware of bears. I was scary again.

Beyond the lighthouse, the view was also magnificent.

On the way back, there was a candle rock (ローソク岩) in the sea.

If you are lucky, you could see the sun on the tip of the rock as if it were a candle.

After all, I couldn't eat the sea urchin in Shakotan Peninsula. It was so expensive. No one in my family wants to eat it. My mother-in-law recommended me, but I turned it down.
Instead of that, I ordered inexpensive sea urchin at a reasonable sushi restaurant on the way back home.
It was good though.

I will go there again to touch the sea water and eat reddish yellow sea urchin someday.

One day, I watched a TV show which introduced a type of sea urchin which lives near the Shakotan Peninsula.
Usually, the color of sea urchins is yellow, but the one introduced on TV was reddish yellow.
I felt like trying some.

The other day, my mother-in-law and my family drove to the Shakotan Peninsula.

We walked through a small and unlit tunnel.

It was scary in the tunnel, but there was a breath taking view on the other side.

I wanted to go down and touch the sea, but the path down was long and steep. I tried to walk down the whole path, but I gave up in the middle. I thought that it would be too difficult for me to walk back were I to go all the way to the bottom of the path. Besides, no one in my family wanted to try it. They ended up waiting for me for a long time as it was.

We then walked to see a lighthouse.

I got scared when I had seen this sign which warned to beware of bears.

Beyond the lighthouse, the view was also magnificent.

On the way back, there was a candle rock (ローソク岩) in the sea.

If you are lucky, you could see the sun on the tip of the rock as if it were a candle.

In the end, I hadn't eaten any sea urchins from the Shakotan Peninsula. They were so expensive. No one in my family wanted to eat any. My mother-in-law recommended them to me, but I decided against eating any.
Instead of eating any there, I ordered inexpensive sea urchin at a reasonable sushi restaurant on the way back home.
They were delicious.

Someday, I plan to return, to touch the sea water, and to eat reddish yellow sea urchin.

Hello, Shiroi Tora.

Thank you very much for the corrections.

I was glad to know the word 'unlit'.
