A professor's works at an Ikebana Sunday Workshop.

The very first book which a close friend of mine had translated was published at last.
The title is "A poem in praise of each country" ( 国褒めの歌).
I'm very proud of her.
She and I met an English conversational school a long time ago. Her dream was to be a translator in those days and now it came true! She has studied English very hard and she has motivated me all the time. Although we live far away from each other now, we brush up our English by Skype a few times a week.

Apart from that the book was translated by her, this book is worth reading for all generations.
There are poems which praise many countries and also there are beautiful paintings drawn by a Japanese‐style painter next page to the poem respectively.
I hope schools adopt this book as a school text book. Children can learn not only English, but also about each countries from the poems and paintings. And they will have a dream to visit their favorite countries.
This book makes me feel comfortable.

Re: English Corrections

Hi Shiroi Tora.

Thank you so much for the corrections as always.
I had been wondering which the best word was in this article, picture, paintings, or illustrations.

English Corrections

In response to Sakae's comment:

'I had been wondering which the best word was in this article, picture, paintings, or illustrations.'

My response:

Actually, as I didn't know if these were miniaturized and printed out paintings to the book pages, or if she had actually drawn them in colored pencils or such, I didn't correct what you had put.

If the artist had actually used a brush like device for any medium, such as water color, acrylic, or oil, then, yes, she had painted them. If not, and she had used a pencil or pen, then she had made drawings or illustrations. Actually, illustrations would be most accurate as she was illustrating the adjacent text.

So, if these were actually paintings, she used them to illustrate the book.

Re: English Corrections

Hi Shiroi Tora.

Thank you for your response.
According to your explanation, I think 'painting' would be the best.
