I wonder which animal's footprints are. Are they fox's?

One of my favorite TV programs is Downton Abbey, which is a historical British drama. I'm looking forward to watching it once a week.
The other day, I was so surprised to watch one of the scenes.

One of the aristocratic Crawley family members, Mary joined a horse race.
To my surprise, the way of her sitting on the horse was that her both legs were one side. It was not a real horse race because of drama, but it was so dangerous.
She pulled it off.

Another my favorite TV program is 'At Home with Venetia in Kyoto' (猫のしっぽカエルの手).
I like Venetia Stanley-Smith very much. The program introduces her eco-friendly daily life. She lives in an old Japanese house in Kyoto, where she plants many kinds of herb in her garden. It often introduces her homemade cooking using her herbs. I also like her essays in English in the program. The contents are really good for me.
Her programs always make me feel warm.

This type of riding a horse is called "side saddle."On
google, it says that people still do this today. I think there is a special saddle for this kind of activity.

It was because it was unattractive for a woman to
straddle a horse. It was also difficult when women
wore long skirts. In addition, some cultures have some strong beliefs about women and riding a horse this
way. Maybe I will tell you later instead.

Re: No title

Hello, Always visiting.

Thank you very much for telling me about "side saddle".
It is good that there is a special saddle for it, or a normal saddle would be so dangerous for a person who sits "side saddle".

One of my favorite TV programs is 'Downton Abbey', which is a historical British drama. I look forward to watching it every week.

The other day, I was so surprised by one of the scenes.
One of the aristocratic Crawley family members, Mary, competed in a horse race.
To my surprise, she had ridden her horse *sidesaddle (she rode in the saddle with both of her legs on the same side). Although it was not a real horse race, but just part of the drama, it still seemed like a dangerous scene to have filmed.
She pulled it off.

*Ladies used to ride sidesaddle because they used to always wear long dresses, which would have prevented them from riding in the normal fashion.

Another my favorite TV program of mine is 'At Home with Venetia in Kyoto' (猫のしっぽカエルの手).

Hello, Shiroi Tora.

Thank you very much for the corrections.

My image of the word 'showcase' is to show jewels in a glass case.

Answer To Sakae's Question

Sakae's Question:

My image of the word 'showcase' is to show jewels in a glass case.
Please tell me an example sentence using 'showcase', and please tell me what is the difference between 'showcase' and 'show'.

My Reply:

Actually, the reason is the same as for the jewels. It means to display with special deference or attention for it. To show is to merely convey. To showcase is to make it standout. It is to give it special meaning, and usually, special space or time allotted to it for a more in depth review.

I assumed that the cooking portion is a major draw to the show. And, as each dish is unique to her show, it would make sense that it is showcased rather than merely shown on her show. I imagined that on the previews of her next shows, that they would have a clip of the next showcased dish. I could be wrong. If her dishes are just part of the normal format of the show, and the dishes are not unique, then they merely demonstrate, or show, a new dish.

Hi, Shiroi Tora.

Now I understand it well. Thank you very much.
