I had composed this arrangement of Siberian Dogwood (サンゴミズキ), Alstroemeria (アルストロメリア), and Gold dust dracaena (ゴッドセフィアナ).

I had a chance to talk with a girl who is a high school student, after a long time. She is in the third grade in technical high school now.
When she was a junior high school student, she had wanted to be an architect. So, she chose the technical high school. However, she is going to enter a completely different department in university. She told me that she had already passed the AO exam of the university, and she changed her dream.
I was surprised to hear this. To my more surprise, she hasn't learned English since she was in the second grade in high school. When she started the second grade, she didn't choose English classes. I had thought that all high school students must study English for three years.

I don't know about other high schools, but it's not good for technical high school students to choose English classes when they are in the second grade. All high school students should learn English for three years. Some students may change their courses on the way in high school like the girl.
I'm worried about her to catch up with other students who had learned English for three years in high school when she enters university and has English classes.

I'm worried about her not being able to catch up with those who had learned English for three years in high school, once she enters university and takes English classes.

Re: English Corrections

Hello, Shiroi Tora.

Thank you so much for the corrections as always.

I have a question.
As for 'whom I hadn't seen in a long time', I've heard that 'whom' is hardly used in these days. Is it true? Can I say 'who I hadn't seen in a long time', instead of 'whom'?

Sakae's Question

Sakae's Question:

My Reply:

Whom is still used, although it can get confusing when to use it correctly when sentences get convoluted. Who / whom equals when he / him or she / her may be substituted in the sentence.

Who = he/she may be substituted.

Whom = him/her may be substituted.

Example: I had a chance to talk with a girl *who is a high school student, and **whom I hadn't seen in a long time.

I had a chance to talk with a girl. *She is a high school student.

I hadn't seen **her in a long time.

Don't worry. I sometimes get it wrong unless the sentence is simple.
Many native speakers get confused when using whom.
